FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office filed formal charges Monday against two people believed to be involved in a recent shooting that took place outside a residence in Morgantown.
Nicholas Saunders, 19, of Elizabethtown, has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, and two counts of pointing a firearm. Miranda Lawson, 19, of Morgantown, was booked for false informing.
Police responded to a residence in rural Morgantown on August 7 and discovered that a man, Jerry Jones, had been shot multiple times. The victim’s wife identified Miranda Lawson as one of the alleged individuals involved. With the assistance of the SWAT team, both Saunders and Lawson were eventually taken into custody.
Lawson has already posted bail and has been released from jail pending a court date.
Saunders remains incarcerated with a bond of $400 cash and $114,000 surety. He is set for his first court appearance this Thursday. Saunders also faces separate charges in Jennings County of criminal mischief and resisting law enforcement in connection with supposed behavior during his arrest.
