INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.–The Christian Theological Seminary is having a two-day tag sale this weekend in Indianapolis in which it will be selling many of the seminary’s original Mid-Century Modern furnishings. The Columbus connection to the school is J. Irwin Miller, who initially recommended architect Eero Saarinen to design the auditorium and campus.
Saarinen declined the project as he felt that he could not invest the proper attention in the time allotted, but he recommended fellow architect Edward Larrabee Barnes for the job. Barnes accepted the opportunity and completed the project in 1961.
Many items that are being sold were originally appointed by Barnes. The tag sale is Friday and Saturday, and begins each day at 10 a.m.
