COLUMBUS, Ind.—At its August 14 meeting, the Bartholomew County Council granted a personal property tax abatement to George Utz, Inc., a manufacturer of returnable plastic containers, pallets, component holders and specialized products for specific customer needs. The company, located on County Road 250W between Taylorsville and Edinburgh, is the headquarters for the Switzerland-based company’s U.S. subsidiary.
The facility will now have the opportunity to acquire more equipment and hire seven new employees. The new abatement will consist of a five-year tax phase-in, and the company will continue to pay its current tax obligations.
George Utz, Inc. was founded in Switzerland in 1947 and opened its U.S. facility in 2009.
