COLUMBUS, Ind.—Thrive Alliance recently received recognition for its ongoing work in the Columbus community. The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) awarded Thrive Alliance’s Relative Caregiver Program with an Aging Innovations Award, the highest honor presented to member agencies, at its recent annual conference in Chicago.
The 2018 n4a Aging Innovations and Achievement Awards recognize Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and Title VI Native American aging programs that develop and implement cutting-edge approaches to support older adults, people with disabilities and their family caregivers.
Thrive Alliance was selected for its Relative Caregiver Support Program which began in January 2017 to offer services to those who have taken on the responsibility of raising related children who are not in the custody of the state. Children and relatives receive supportive services such as information and referral, support groups, recreation and enrichment, family advocacy, educational workshops, and legal training.
