SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Seymour Police Department (SPD) has provided an update on the body found in a Seymour creek last week.
A forensic pathologist performed an autopsy on Wednesday and identified the deceased as James Christopher Gravette, 50, of Seymour. During the autopsy, no visible signs of trauma were observed. Detectives do not believe the incident was criminal in nature.
On June 17, SPD received a report of a body in a small creek on the east side of the Burkart Blvd. bridge between Fourth and Tipton Streets. When officers arrived, they observed a deceased male in the creek. They noted that it appeared that he had probably been there several days.
Medical officials say the cause of death is pending the toxicology results.
