COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) has announced that firefighter Dan Bates has retired.
After 29 years of service to CFD, Dan Bates, Badge # 203, stepped into retirement on Friday, January 2.
Bates joined the Columbus Fire Department on May 17, 1996. Among his many accomplishments, he served as Deputy Chief during two administrations.
During his career, Bates was actively involved in department activities, including several department sporting events, the Cheer Fund, and the CFD color guard and honor guard details.
A Department spokesperson said, “Congratulations, thank you for your service to Columbus, and we wish you a long, healthy, and happy retirement.”
