COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce announced Wednesday that Jon Myers is its new President and CEO following a nationwide search. A Columbus native and former business owner, Myers is scheduled to begin his tenure on September 14.
Myers joins the Chamber from his current position as Vice President of Small Business and State Director of the Indiana Small Business Development Center (Indiana SBDC), where he has led statewide efforts to support entrepreneurs since 2016.
His professional background also includes over a decade of experience co-owning local establishments, which has given him firsthand insight into the challenges facing business leaders.
Matt Carothers, chair of the Chamber Board, praised Myers as a "strategic leader and big-picture thinker" whose experience and local roots will be significant assets to the organization.
"I feel as though my entire career has prepared me for this opportunity," Myers stated. "The Chamber plays a vital role in supporting our business community and strengthening economic vitality."
Myers succeeds Cindy Frey, who retired in June after 13 years of leadership. His immediate focus will be on engaging with staff, members, and community stakeholders to address current and emerging business needs.
