CPD Deputy Chief Graduates from FBI National Academy

COLUMBUS, Ind. –Columbus Police Department (CPD) Deputy Chief Douglas “Matt” Martindale graduated as a member of the 296th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, on December 11.

COLUMBUS, Ind. –Columbus Police Department (CPD) Deputy Chief Douglas “Matt” Martindale graduated as a member of the 296th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, on December 11.

The National Academy offers 11 weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. The 296th session consisted of two hundred and fifty-four law enforcement officers, including men and women from 47 states and the District of Columbia. The class also included members of law enforcement agencies from 24 countries, four military organizations, and two federal civilian organizations.

CPD Chief Steve Noman said, “We are very proud of Deputy Chief Martindale’s accomplishments and graduation. The FBI National Academy is challenging, but CPD takes great pride in training the best officers and police professionals. Congratulations, Deputy Chief Martindale!”

Deputy Chief Martindale is a graduate of Indiana University, where he attended the IU Police Academy before starting with CPD as a police officer in 2014. In Columbus, he has served as a police officer, detective, detective sergeant, and deputy chief since April 2024.
