CPD investigates Cottage Avenue shooting

COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Columbus Police Department CPD is investigating a shooting that happened Wednesday afternoon in the 1900 block of Cottage Avenue. 

Local law enforcement and emergency personnel responded at around 3:50 p.m. When police arrived, they found an 18-year-old female who had been wounded.     

As part of the investigation, a male has been detained, and a firearm has been recovered.    

The female was transported by emergency medical personnel to an Indianapolis hospital.

CPD detectives are actively investigating. Based on the initial investigation, there is no danger to the public.
