EDINBURGH, Ind. - The German Township Fire Department, Edinburgh Fire and Rescue, and other local fire agencies were dispatched to the northbound lanes of I-65 at the 79-mile marker for a large semi fire in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 14.
When crews arrived at around 1 a.m., they found a well-involved tractor-trailer blaze. Firefighters encountered challenging conditions involving one semi with two fully involved trailers, burning trailer contents, and the need to establish a reliable water supply.
Units worked for over five hours and cleared the scene at around 6:30 a.m. Northbound I-65 traffic was closed at the Taylorsville exit for around six hours.
Fire officials say one person was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
