Greensburg crash Friday afternoon results in fatality

GREENSBURG, Ind. - The Greensburg Police Department responded to the report of a one-vehicle accident at Kova Fertilizer, 1330 North Anderson St., in Greensburg, on Friday, March 20, at around 2:15 p.m. 

The car was southbound on Carver Street at the State Road 3 bypass, left the roadway on the southeast side of the intersection, and went through a grassy area before it struck three other parked vehicles and the building on the property.    

Greensburg Police and Fire Department personnel, along with Decatur County EMS, rendered first aid to the driver, Michael R. Linville, 76, of Greensburg. He was then transported to Decatur County Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

A passenger of the vehicle was uninjured in the crash. 

Although the cause of the accident was not immediately known, the initial investigation indicates that Linville suffered a medical event while driving. 

The Greensburg Police Department and Decatur County Coroner's Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
