INDOT, DNR host Mountain Tea State Forest road improvement meeting

NASHVILLE, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will hold a public information meeting on Thursday, July 16, for the proposed Mountain Tea State Forest access improvement project in Brown County.

The meeting will take place at Abe Martin Lodge in Melodeon Hall, at 1405 State Road 46W, in Nashville, and provide an opportunity for the public to interact with the project team and receive the latest updates on the project.   

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to allow attendees time to view displays and speak with project personnel before the presentation that begins at 6 p.m. The entry fee to Brown County State Park will be waived for those attending the meeting.   

The project aims to enhance safety and accessibility along Pumpkin Ridge Road, located in Mountain Tea State Forest near Nashville, by improving the roadway condition and driving surface, upgrading drainage features, and providing adequate lane widths. The contract is currently scheduled to be let to contractors in the summer of 2028.    

A livestream option will also be available starting at 6 p.m. on July 16 via Microsoft Teams for those who are unable to attend. Registration will be accessible on the project webpage and is required for the virtual meeting.   

Additional project information will be presented at the meeting, and all design information and materials will be made available online.
