NORTH VERNON, Ind. - The North Vernon Police Department (NVPD) was dispatched to the North Vernon Walmart on Saturday, January 17, in reference to a reported trespasser on the property.

During questioning, officers developed probable cause and arrested Brittany Allison, of Seymour.

Further investigation led them to obtain a search warrant for Allison’s vehicle. NVPD allegedly located methamphetamine along with evidence indicating a complex fraud and theft operation. A cellular phone was seized as part of the investigation.

The suspect was transported to the Jennings County Jail, where she was booked on preliminary charges of Possession of Meth, Criminal Trespass, Theft, and Fraud, pending a formal review by the Jennings County Prosecutor’s Office.

NVPD Chief Messer said, “The officers did an outstanding job of taking what initially appeared to be a trespassing call and uncovering a more complex narcotics, theft, and fraud investigation. Their work not only removed dangerous drugs from our community but also disrupted a theft and fraud operation that could have impacted numerous local businesses and residents.”

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
