4 busted on narcotics charges after NVPD investigation

NORTH VERNON, Ind. - The North Vernon Police Department (NVPD), assisted by the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), executed a search warrant at a residence in the 400 block of Stockwell Street on Wednesday, September 9, just after 1:30 a.m.

The search warrant was executed after a two-week narcotics investigation, which began when officers responded to the residence for a suspected fentanyl overdose. NVPD and JCSO continued investigating the residence through surveillance, intelligence gathering, and other techniques. A subsequent trash pull resulted in the recovery of items that field-tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Based on the information developed during the investigation, the Jennings County Circuit Court granted a search warrant. It was executed during the early morning hours of September 9. Four individuals were detained while law enforcement searched the residence.

Police allegedly found suspected drug paraphernalia, digital scales with suspected methamphetamine residue, packaging materials commonly associated with narcotics distribution, unidentified pills, cellular devices, and other items of evidentiary value.

As a result, the following individuals were arrested on preliminary charges:

Brandi Long, 30

Jesse Crouch, 30

Joseph Cooper, 42

The Indiana Department of Child Services was contacted. All four individuals were transported to the Jennings County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing. Law enforcement obtained search warrants for four cellular devices seized during the investigation. They were transported for data extraction and examination.

All charges listed are preliminary accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
