Heffelfinger is NVPD 'Officer of Year'

NORTH VERNON, Ind. - The North Vernon Police Department (NVPD) has named Officer Graham Heffelfinger as its 2025 Officer of the Year.

Since transferring from the Madison Police Department in September 2024, Heffelfinger has made an impact on both NVPD and the community.

As the department’s Narcotics Task Force Commander, he has led complex investigations. He oversees and manages the Reserve Officer Program, ensuring reserve officers are trained, supported, and effectively utilized. Serving as the department’s Public Information Officer, he has also strengthened communication with the public, increasing transparency and community trust.

Beyond his operational responsibilities, Heffelfinger has authored multiple grants that have brought in tens of thousands of dollars in funding and equipment, directly benefiting officers and enhancing the department's ability to serve the community.

His leadership, initiative, and commitment to excellence have set a high standard within NVPD. Officer Heffelfinger’s work ethic and dedication make him deserving of this recognition.
