SEYMOUR, Ind. — The Seymour Common Council has formally opened public discussions on the city’s proposed appropriations and tax rates for fiscal year 2027.
City presentation details outline a preliminary total adopted budget of $29,951,910, representing an estimated maximum tax rate of $1.86 per $100 of assessed value.
Financial representatives noted that final approved tax rates typically drop about 50 cents once finalized by the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance.
Key elements of the proposed 2027 budget include a 4% employee pay increase, planned capital bond renewals to fund new fire trucks and police vehicles, and the payoff of the Crossroads Park bond.
Before final adoption, the council will bring a formal salary ordinance and further budget readings to future meetings.
