COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Office of Downtown Development announced that the Columbus Oktoberfest will take over downtown Columbus this year on the afternoon and evening of Saturday, September 26.
Following a successful pilot event in the Crump parking lot last year, the festival will now take place along 4th and Washington Streets as a standalone event directly following the Mill Race Marathon.
Organizers aim to support local businesses, with a vendor village, local downtown DORA-approved beer gardens, and food options that prioritize downtown restaurants. The event will also feature tractor displays from CLAAS of American Machinery and sponsorship from local companies, including Toyota and Johnson Witkemper.
In addition, the festival will host the state's only U.S. Stein Holding Association–sanctioned competition, with prizes provided in partnership with Upland Brewing Company.
"Our objective with this is to bring 4,000 to 5,000 people downtown and use as many local businesses as possible," representatives noted during this week's City of Columbus Board of Public Works and Safety meeting, highlighting the effort to boost downtown traffic following the marathon.
Oktoberfest vendors and festivities will open at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 26.
