SEYMOUR, Ind. — The City of Seymour is projecting significant construction savings on the Second Street project as work continues across municipal infrastructure developments.
The Second Street project is expected to return nearly $800,000 in construction savings. The city plans to consult with state transportation officials to redirect the funds toward upcoming phases of the O'Brien Street master plan or return them to the Redevelopment Commission (RDC).
The detailed progress on multiple phases of the O'Brien Street project:
- Phase 1 - Secured an inspection contract with Lochmueller Group
- Phases 2 and 3 - Utility relocations by Duke Energy are nearly complete
- Phase 5 - Received an approved purchase order, and a 'Notice to Proceed' was issued to the contractor
Additionally, upcoming Community Crossings Matching Grant (CCMG) paving is scheduled over the next two to three weeks for Burkart Boulevard (between 4th and 7th Streets), Hillcrest Drive (between Jackson Park Drive and Burkart), and East 6th Street (between O'Brien and Park Streets).
City staff members answered board member questions about ongoing timelines and federal funding requirements.
