GREENWOOD, Ind. – Center Grove Community School Corporation (CGCSC) Superintendent Dr. William K. Long was honored Thursday, June 18, with the Circle of Corydon Award, a recognition jointly presented by Indiana's executive and legislative branches to individuals who have made significant contributions to the state.
State Representative Michelle Davis (R-Whiteland), who represents Johnson County's House District 58, presented the award to Dr. Long, along with Indiana Senate President Pro Tempore Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville).
“Dr. Long has been very instrumental in some school safety legislation that has really put Indiana ahead of most of the other states in making sure our schools are safe,” said Davis. “He has done a tremendous job in leading the way and coming to the Statehouse to give testimony when needed. Dr. Long, you have been a pleasure to work with.”
Established in 2017, the Circle of Corydon Award is the only state honor jointly issued and signed by members of both the executive and legislative branches. It honors Hoosiers who demonstrate exceptional service to Indiana and its people through leadership, innovation, and dedication to public service. Nominations are made exclusively by members of the Indiana General Assembly.
Dr. Long has served Center Grove Schools in various capacities, including assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent, before being named superintendent in 2024. He will retire on June 30 after 28 years.
