City of Seymour addresses downtown burnout damage following cruising events

SEYMOUR, Ind. — Damage to downtown infrastructure following local car-cruising events prompted council discussion on enforcement and event management during last Monday's meeting, September 14.

Various concerns were raised regarding individuals performing vehicle burnouts on brick paver intersections downtown following the annual "Scoop the Loop" and related cruising events, causing physical damage to municipal property.

Suggested options included exploring increased police overtime enforcement, designating specific locations for burnout activities, or shutting down unmonitored cruising if property destruction continues.

In other city business, Councilman Seth Davidson referred a public request to committee for formal evaluation regarding an alley closure in the 100 block of East Harrison Drive, between South Park and East Harrison Drives.
