COLUMBUS, Ind. - The City of Columbus will begin landscaping improvements at Parking Lot #10, at Franklin and 6th Streets, as part of ongoing efforts to expand the downtown tree canopy with native, sustainable, and low‑maintenance plantings.
The project supports goals outlined in the Columbus Downtown 2030 Plan.
Parking Lot 10 will close at 5 p.m. on Oct. 12 and is expected to remain closed for approximately three weeks. All vehicles must be removed by the 5 p.m. deadline.
Workers will remove existing plant material, including trees, and install new native trees, shrubs, and flowers throughout the lot.
During the closure, paid parkers will be temporarily relocated to other City parking facilities.
Alternative parking will be available at the following locations:
- 7th and Franklin Street, north end adjacent to the library lot
- Lafayette and 3rd Street, County lot
- 4th and Brown Street, Sears lot
- Franklin and 5th Street (Irwin Block lot) with 20 spaces reserved for Parking Lot #10 parkers
These alternative locations will remain available for paid Parking Lot #10 users throughout the closure. Because Lot #10 will be unavailable in October, parkers will receive a credit for their monthly fee.
