EDINBURGH, Ind. — The Town of Edinburgh took its first step toward finalizing its annual financial plan during the Town Council meeting on Monday, September 28.
Clerk-Treasurer Rhonda Barrett presented Ordinance 2026-14, introducing the proposed 2027 town budget and tax rates.
The total advertised 2027 budget was set at $10,462,053, with an advertised tax rate of 2.7178%. Compared to the 2026 budget, the proposed figure reflects a decrease of about $272,000 and a 0.5619% lower advertised tax rate than the previous year.
Barrett noted that under Indiana procedure, the first reading of the budget ordinance can't be waived.
The Town of Edinburgh Council will formally adopt the 2027 budget at its meeting on Monday, October 12.
