Franklin Fire crews fight Compass Park fire

FRANKLIN, Ind. - UPDATE- 10 p.m. -Johnson County Fire crews are continuing to extinguish hot spots. Crews will remain on scene for an extended period of time.

ORIGINAL STORY

The City of Franklin Fire Department and other Johnson County agencies extinguished a large fire at an under-construction section of an apartment building at Compass Park on on Red Skelton Circle in Franklin on Friday morning, April 10. 

At approximately 5 a.m., Franklin fire Crews responded to Young’s Creek Apartments, a senior living apartment building, to reports of a large fire. The massive blaze broke out within an unoccupied, newly constructed section of the building. Crews safely evacuated all residents before the fire spread further, and no injuries have been reported. 

Greenwood, Bargersville, White River, Edinburgh, Nineveh, Needham, and Whiteland Fire Departments are assisted in fighting the fire. 

Franklin Fire Chief Joshua Snyder stated that the fire is the "largest fire I've seen in Franklin" during his 20-year career. 

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
