GREENWOOD, Ind. — The Greenwood Fire Department (GFD) and Mayor Mark W. Myers recognized citizen Amanda Schultz for her life-saving actions over the Fourth of July weekend.

During the Greenwood Common Council meeting on Monday, October 5, Mayor Myers and fire department leadership presented Schultz with the GFD Civilian Life-Saving Award.

Schultz performed CPR on a four-year-old child who had been pulled from a neighborhood retention pond, successfully restoring the child’s breathing and pulse before the arrival of emergency medical services.

Fire Chief Jayme Washel also introduced Jacob Harten during the meeting for his official swearing-in ceremony to the rank of Division Chief of Training for the Greenwood Fire Department.
