NORTH VERNON, Ind. — The North Vernon Utility Service Board reviewed several major infrastructure repairs during its October 5 meeting, including emergency repairs at the High Service Pump Station.
Water Treatment Supervisor Will Spencer informed the board that local contractor Hall Heating was approved to replace a failed HVAC compressor at the station for around $6,000. Because the current 21-year-old unit relies on hard-to-source parts, the utility plans to request an additional appropriation in 2027 to install a complete replacement system valued at $16,500.
Climate control at the pump station is critical to prevent variable frequency drives and motors from overheating.
In addition, Utility Service Group recently completed maintenance at the industrial park water tower. Crews temporarily removed the tower from service to weld in structural framework for a new power vent and mixer, while also performing a scheduled annual washout to improve water dissipation byproducts.
