INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana State Police (ISP) troopers are investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a school bus and an ISP pickup truck on I-465 northbound, north of Washington Street, on the east side of Indianapolis.
The crash occurred at approximately 10 a.m.on Tuesday, September 29. The bus rolled onto its side and came to rest on the concrete median barrier. The pick-up sustained heavy front-end damage from hitting the concrete wall.
The circumstances leading to the crash are still under investigation. ISP Crash Reconstructionists joined dozens of first responders at the scene.
At the time of the accident, three adults and 24 students were passengers. The three adults and eight children were initially transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The remaining kids were also taken to a local hospital for observation and to be reunited with their families.
School officials were at the crash location working to notify families of the children involved.
