NORTH VERNON, Ind. — The first Jennings County Municipal Unit Strategic Taskforce (MUST) meeting on Monday, September 28, addressed impending municipal funding shifts across local taxing units.
The task force brought together county, city, and town representatives to evaluate long-term financial stability.
Key topics included managing projected revenue shifts created by legislative changes to Local Income Tax (LIT) distribution formulas. The group reviewed initial distribution estimates and discussed interlocal coordination strategies among Jennings County, North Vernon, and Vernon.
Taskforce members discussed plans to consult financial advisory professionals to refine local income tax projections.
The new MUST is scheduled to hold its next working session on Tuesday, October 13.
