JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. -A suspect wanted on robbery charges was arrested following a vehicle chase that ended on the Kennedy Bridge on I-65 at the Indiana/Kentucky border on Friday, May 15.
The Indiana State Police (ISP)-Sellersburg Post was advised that a suspect wanted on a warrant for a probation violation from a robbery charge was possibly in the Jeffersonville area.
49-year-old Bruce R. Rogers of Louisville was operating in a vehicle that had recently been reported stolen from Louisville.
The suspect fled from troopers when they attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The Jeffersonville Police Department successfully deployed a tire deflation device on 10th Street, but Rogers fled and entered southbound I-65 in an attempt to cross the Kennedy Bridge into Kentucky.
ISP successfully deployed a precision immobilization technique, commonly referred to as a PIT Maneuver, which caused the suspect's vehicle to come to a stop on the bridge. A brief standoff occurred before law enforcement took him into custody.
EMS was called to the scene to transport Rogers to an area hospital for evaluation. Upon release, he was incarcerated on multiple local charges as well as the warrants from neighboring jurisdictions.
I-65 South lanes were briefly shut down on the Kennedy Bridge until the suspect was apprehended and the scene cleared.
