SEYMOUR, Ind. — The Seymour Common Council voted 4–2 on first reading to pass an annexation ordinance for an 80-acre industrial parcel at 6693 North County Road 1000E at last week's council meeting.
The property, located just north of the East Side Industrial Park, was previously rezoned to I-2 industrial. Bill Braman, an attorney representing property owner 10 Foot Rim LLC, presented the request for super-voluntary annexation to help make the site "show-ready" for future industrial buyers and place future roadway and drainage infrastructure under city jurisdiction.
Council members Danielle Long and Chad Hubbard voted against the ordinance, citing concerns over short notice after receiving agenda packets late. Long noted that the rapid timeline did not leave enough time to discuss roadway and traffic impacts with nearby residents.
After the ordinance vote, the council approved Resolution No. 21 establishing the annexation fiscal plan in a 4–3 vote, following a tie-breaking procedure, with Long, Hubbard, and Denny Frey voting in opposition.
