SEYMOUR, Ind. — A residential property on Seymour's East Fourth Street is one step closer to commercial redevelopment following a recent Seymour Common Council vote.
Council members passed the first reading of an ordinance to rezone the lot located at 1223 East Fourth Street from residential to C-2 commercial zoning. The property owners plan to build a 4,500-square-foot commercial building with potential multi-tenant office or retail space.
During the presentation, developers highlighted that roughly 50% of the surrounding properties along Fourth Street are already zoned commercial. They reported no major objections from nearby property owners and confirmed the site has adequate access to city utilities, drainage easements, and parking capacity.
The rezoning ordinance passed its initial vote 4-0 and will proceed to subsequent readings before full approval is granted.
