COLUMBUS, Ind. - An 18-year-old Columbus resident is in jail after the Columbus Police Department (CPD) was dispatched to a report of a shooting in the 1900 block of Cottage Avenue on Wednesday, March 4, at around 3:40 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found an 18-year-old female from Seymour who had been shot. They also located the alleged shooter, Skyler Vera, 18, of Columbus. He was detained, and a firearm was recovered.

The female was transported to an Indianapolis hospital by emergency medical personnel. She is currently in stable condition.
