COLUMBUS, Ind. - Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation's (BCSC) third annual Educator Signing Day is Tuesday morning, May 5, in the Clarence E. Robbins Auditorium at Columbus East High School.
The event recognizes the high school seniors from Columbus East, Columbus North, and CSA New Tech who plan to pursue a degree in education and dedicate their careers to teaching.
The ceremony, inspired by athletic signing days, honored students who are committing to the teaching profession.
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. with refreshments courtesy of the C4 Culinary students, and the program starts at 9 a.m. with BCSC Superintendent Chad Phillips and other dignitaries speaking. The Future Educators Signing takes place at 9:30, followed by closing remarks from Kathy Dell of the BCSC Educator Hall of Fame.
Each participating senior will be recognized individually, with highlights of their educational journey, college plans, and a personal testimonial from a BCSC teacher who has influenced their path. Students formally signed letters of intent as a special “Future Educator.”
This event builds a pipeline of future educators and focuses on BCSC's goal of attracting and retaining a diverse, high-quality staff from within the community.
