COLUMBUS, Ind. - Residents are invited to volunteer at a river and park cleanup on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Owen’s Bend Park. Organized by Ivy Tech science faculty, the aim is to help maintain and preserve one of Bartholomew County’s favorite natural destinations.
Volunteers will meet at 10 a.m. in the park parking lot, north of Columbus on North County Road 25E near East County Road 550N, before spreading out to collect litter throughout the area.
Organizers note that participants will remain on dry land and will not be entering the river. Trash bags and rubber gloves will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring sturdy work gloves and a 5-gallon bucket to help collect broken glass and other debris.
Complimentary snacks and water will be available, and free Ivy Tech Biology T-shirts will be distributed while supplies last.
Volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor work. All ages are welcome to help make a positive impact on the local environment.
