COLUMBUS, Ind. - Community members who need their taxes done can sign up for free tax filing through United Way Bartholomew County’s "My Free Taxes" program.
The program offers free tax filings to qualified Bartholomew County residents who make $70,000 or less. IRS-certified volunteers provide confidential and secure basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing.
Income tax assistance appointments will be conducted through mid-April at the Doug Otto United Way Center. Reservations for a tax appointment will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
Appointments can be made by calling the United We Help Line at 812-375-2216 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Assistance is available by appointment only.
In 2025, the Volunteer Tax Assistance program put more than $1M back into the local economy by securing tax refunds and saving residents their filing fees.
Individuals who want to file for free online can go to myfreeaxes.com.
