COLUMBUS, Ind. — City of Columbus officials are moving forward with legal proceedings and a demolition order for a long-abandoned residential property at 1516 Sycamore St.
The Columbus Board of Public Works and Safety approved code enforcement's request for a vacate, condemnation, demolition, and legal action order on the unsafe structure.
Code enforcement officials said the property had previously been condemned under prior ownership and was recently sold.
However, no remediation work was completed within the required six-month permit window, leaving the building boarded up, unsafe, and officially classified as an abandoned building under municipal standards.
