COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Bartholomew County Historical Society invites you to attend the second Evelyn Seward Speaker Series event of 2026 on Thursday, June 18, when County Historian Dr. Tami Stone Iorio presents "Bartholomew County on the Map: 1776-2026."

As the United States celebrates its 250th birthday, Dr. Iorio will lead attendees on a journey through Bartholomew County’s history guided by eleven maps from 1776 to the present.

Learn how the area's landscape changed and the big and small things that shaped it – railroads, mail routes, military bases, ghost towns, and much more.

Bartholomew County on the Map: 1776-2026 will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Helen Haddad Hall, 315 Franklin St., in Columbus. Admission is free thanks to funding provided by the Evelyn Seward Speaker Series Endowment.

The mission of the Bartholomew County Historical Society is to discover, collect, preserve, and share the history of Bartholomew County for the enrichment of present and future generations.
