EDINBURGH, Ind. - The Edinburgh Police Department (EPD) and Edinburgh Fire and Rescue were dispatched to a water rescue at the Indiana Premium Outlet Mall on Thursday, March 26.

Officers were informed that the driver, Adam Phillips of Edinburgh, had lost control of the Jeep and driven into the pond. Phillips had been able to get out of his vehicle and was standing on top of his Jeep, but he could not swim.

Upon arrival, EPD found that a Good Samaritan, identified as Ronald Hoover, had jumped into the water and assisted the driver from the Jeep to the side of the pond.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
