Koch named new Shelbyville Chief of Police

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. - The City of Shelbyville has announced the appointment of Louie Koch as the next Chief of the Shelbyville Police Department.

A lifelong resident of Shelby County, Chief Koch brings more than 27 years of law enforcement experience, including service with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and two terms as the county’s elected Sheriff.

Chief Koch’s leadership will focus on strengthening recruitment and retention, supporting officers, and ensuring the department continues operating at the highest professional standards while serving the Shelbyville community.

Mayor Scott Furgeson shared, “Louie Koch has spent nearly three decades serving the people of Shelby County with integrity and dedication. His leadership experience and commitment to community make him the right person to lead the Shelbyville Police Department.”

Chief Koch will begin his new role on March 23.
