Greenwood residents should review new municipal codes

GREENWOOD, Ind. - The Greenwood Common Council recently adopted updates to the City’s municipal code that affect property maintenance, abandoned, junked, or wrecked vehicles, parking within the City, and trash placement for pickup.

The changes are intended to improve the livability of the City by addressing areas of repeated complaints regarding circumstances that negatively impact the public health, safety, and welfare, as well as create a detriment to the economic welfare of the City, by producing a scenic blight which is adverse to the maintenance and continuing development of the City.

Here are some of the highlights of the updates in the Greenwood municipal code:

The full text of each Ordinance, with additional provisions, can be found online. Some violations may carry daily fines if not corrected, and the City now has a clearer process for enforcement and appeals. Residents are encouraged to review the full ordinances on the city website or contact Code Enforcement with questions.

Mayor Mark Myers said, "We appreciate your help in keeping Greenwood safe and clean for everyone."
