TRAFALGAR, Ind. - The 500 Festival is bringing the fun and excitement of a 500 Festival running event to Indian Creek Elementary School with a Mobile Run as part of the 500 Festival KidsFit Program, this Wednesday, May 20, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the school, 1002 S. Indian Creek Drive, in Trafalgar.
Students in grades K-6 participate in this program to learn about the importance of fitness and how to pursue a healthy lifestyle. The program is free and customizable and meets the Indiana Department of Education’s Indiana State Academic Standards for Health and Physical Education.
KidsFit participants complete weekly lessons with an Indy 500 theme and run or walk one mile each week using the Start Your Engines running plan. By the end of the program, kids will have completed 13.1 miles – the equivalent of a half-marathon.
Mobile Runs are offered to schools free of charge, and the 500 Festival provides all resources, including a start line, finish line, and race décor.
