JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. - The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) and Franklin Police Department (FPD) conducted an early Wednesday morning warrant roundup of individuals accused of selling illegal narcotics to undercover narcotics investigators.

The two agencies have worked for several years to address this issue in Johnson County, and the strong partnership allows both departments to work in unison to help keep Johnson County safe.

This operation began several months ago. Along with major stings like this one, the agencies continue to serve narcotics-related arrest and search warrants on an ongoing basis.

The roundup conducted on Wednesday began with 31 drug warrants. JCSO was responsible for 16 of those warrants, and FPD for 15.

Agencies assisting included the Bargersville, Edinburgh, and Clay City Police Departments, and the Marion County, Brown County, and Boone County Sheriff’s Offices.

Johnson County Sheriff Duane Burgess stated, “Those who choose to deal drugs in Johnson County should understand that we are actively working to identify, investigate, and arrest them. This operation is just one example of the relentless effort our officers and partner agencies put in every day to hold offenders accountable and protect our communities.”

Franklin Police Chief Kirby Cochran said, “I want to affirm our strong partnership with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the Prosecutor’s Office, and our fellow law enforcement agencies across the county. We are disrupting trafficking networks, removing dangerous substances from our streets, and protecting the families and neighborhoods we serve."
