FRANKLIN, Ind. - Compass Park hosted a media conference on Thursday afternoon to update the community on the progress following the fire on Friday, April 10, that displaced residents and gutted new, unoccupied buildings of the senior-living facility.
Over 50 individuals had to evacuate and stayed with families or were temporarily housed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Edinburgh. After authorities inspected all units on Wednesday, all but two residents are now safely back at their Compass Park apartments.
Officials said they are still determining the cause of the blaze, and a formal investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal's office is scheduled to begin in May.
The board at Compass Park is committed to rebuilding. Compass Park CEO Mike Spencer and Fire Chief Josh Snyder thanked the community for their support in the aftermath.
