Bartholomew County, City of Columbus announce Christmas closings, holiday collection schedule

COLUMBUS, Ind. – All city offices in Columbus, including Columbus City Utilities, will be closed on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, December 24 through 26, to celebrate the Christmas holiday.

Ditto for Bartholomew County offices, the Bartholomew County Solid Waste Management (BCSWMD) District Offices, and the Columbus/Bartholomew Recycling Center.

The Columbus Department of Public Works states that there will be no trash or recycling pickups on Thursday, December 25. Collections on Thursday and Friday will be delayed one day, with Friday pickups rescheduled for Saturday, December 27. Have toters out by 7 a.m. on your collection day.

BCSWMD says the Bartholomew County Landfill at 811 E. County Road 450S will close at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, and will be closed all day on Thursday, December 25.

Columbus City Utilities Office reminds its customers that during the closures, Wednesday through Friday, if you have a problem with your water or sewer service, call the business office at 812-372-8861 and follow the prompts.

Offices will reopen on Monday, December 29.
