GREENSBURG, Ind. - The City of Greensburg announced Wednesday the upcoming retirement of long-time Utilities Manager and Controller Donna Lecher, effective April 1.
Following her departure, the city will promote Assistant Manager Dori Baker to lead the department.
Lecher, a 1977 graduate of Greensburg High School, has served as the manager and controller of the utilities office since 1993. Her career with the city followed a six-year tenure as a Decatur County deputy auditor. During her 33 years of service, Lecher managed the financial operations for water, wastewater, stormwater, and sanitation, and served as the Water Board secretary.
Lecher’s time at the City includes her pivotal role in the $34 million Honda TIF District financing, which secured necessary utility upgrades for the plant’s arrival in 2006. Her career spanned six mayoral administrations and seven office relocations, including a temporary move following a fire during her first month.
Succeeding Lecher is Dori Baker, a 24-year veteran of the Utilities Office. Baker joined the city in 2001 as a customer service representative, was promoted to billing clerk in 2004, and became assistant manager in 2010.
