COLUMBUS/EDINBURGH, Ind. – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued Flood Warnings for three local rivers that will continue until the early parts of the weekend.
The three waterways with Flood Warnings, the Driftwood, East Fork, and Flatrock Rivers, have different expiration dates.
Here are the timelines:
Driftwood River near Edinburgh - WARNING expires Saturday morning; Minor flooding is expected through early Saturday morning. On Wednesday afternoon, the Driftwood River was at 10.6 feet and is forecast to crest at around 13 feet on Thursday evening. Flood stage is 11 feet. It will fall below flood stage by Friday afternoon.
East Fork White River - WARNING expires Friday morning: Minor flooding is forecast through Friday. On Wednesday, the East Fork White River was 7.2 feet and was expected to rise above flood stage (9 feet) early Thursday morning. and crest at 9.5 feet on Thursday afternoon. By Thursday night, it will fall below flood stage.
Flatrock River - WARNING expires Friday afternoon: Minor flooding is expected through Friday afternoon. On Wednesday afternoon, the Flatrock River was at 9.3 feet. It will rise above flood stage (11 feet) on Thursday morning and crest at around 11.6 feet on Thursday afternoon. It will fall below flood stage late Friday morning.
