COLUMBUS, Ind. - Ivy Tech Community College Columbus will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m. on February 18 to celebrate its Dental Clinic, a state-of-the-art training space that supports the region’s growing need for dental hygienists.

The event will highlight Ivy Tech’s Dental Hygiene Program, which provides hands-on, industry-aligned training that prepares students for careers in one of Indiana’s most in-demand healthcare fields. The clinic, which has been serving patients for 13 months, is open to the community and offers preventive dental services. The clinic enables students to learn using advanced equipment, gain real-world experience, and train alongside licensed dentists and experienced hygienists.

Speakers will include Ivy Tech President Dr. Marty Pollio, Columbus Mayor Mary Ferdon, local dentist Dr. Luciana Kano Wilson, Ivy Tech Columbus Interim Chancellor Stephanie Amos, Dean of Health Sciences Dr. Christy Ross, Assistant Professor Jamey Marksberry, and Yamill Suriel, a second-year Dental Hygiene student.

The ceremony will conclude with an official ribbon-cutting and guided tours of the Dental Clinic and Moravec Hall.
