COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET) seized a pound of methamphetamine and a loaded handgun following a traffic stop on Monday, July 13.
JNET began looking into Logan Ashpaugh, 30, of North Vernon, after receiving information that he was dealing meth in the Bartholomew County area.
On July 13, a Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputy and a trooper with the Indiana State Police (ISP) tried to stop Ashpaugh on I-65 near Edinburgh. Ashpaugh fled in his vehicle, exited the interstate, and continued to try to evade officers near the Edinburgh Outlet Mall.
ISP initiated a pursuit intervention technique, which quickly and safely ended the pursuit. Ashpaugh was taken into custody.
Columbus Police Department K-9 Odin alerted to the possibility of drugs inside Ashpaugh’s vehicle. A search supposedly uncovered a loaded handgun, one pound of meth, and marijuana.
Logan Ashpaugh was arrested and preliminarily charged with:
Dealing methamphetamine (level 2 felony)
Possession of meth (level 3 felony)
Possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon (level 4 felony)
Resisting law enforcement with a prior conviction (level 4 felony)
Possession of marijuana with a prior conviction (class A misdemeanor)
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated (class A misdemeanor)
