HARRISON COUNTY, Ind. — A man wanted in Texas was arrested in southern Indiana on Wednesday night, February 11, following a coordinated effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

The Nelson County, Kentucky, Sheriff’s Department contacted the Indiana State Police at around 8 p.m. regarding a stolen Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck believed to have entered southern Indiana from Kentucky on Interstate 64.

Authorities reported that the truck and several firearms had been stolen from a residence. Officials further advised that 33-year-old Dakota Wade Dixon of New Home, Texas, was driving the vehicle.

Troopers initiated a search of New Albany area hotels and businesses and alerted enforcement agents with the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) at Caesars Southern Indiana Casino in Harrison County. Shortly thereafter, IGC agents found the truck in a parking garage.

IGC agents and troopers located the suspect as he was exiting the casino and took him into custody without incident. An inventory search of the truck allegedly revealed four handguns and a lever-action rifle stolen in Kentucky.

Dixon was arrested on a Texas arrest warrant for felony criminal tax evasion and on the local charges of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle (Level 6 Felony) and Unlawful Carry of a Firearm by a Felon (Level 5 Felony). He was incarcerated at the Harrison County Jail, where he will appear on the local charges before being extradited.
