NORTH VERNON, IN – The North Vernon Police Department (NVPD) took a Madison woman into custody on charges of Reckless Driving on Saturday, March 28.
Officers responded to a report of a reckless driver in an SUV traveling north near Muscatatuck Park. They located the suspect vehicle and observed it swerving between lanes, accelerating erratically, and nearly colliding with another vehicle.
The driver, Cassondra S. Lockridge, 28, of Madison, allegedly showed multiple signs of impairment during field sobriety tests, including difficulty maintaining balance, slowed movements, and impaired coordination. During the NVPD investigation, she supposedly admitted to consuming prescription medication before driving.
A search of her person resulted in the alleged discovery of suspected Xanax pills. The suspect later consented to a blood draw, and a breath test administered at the jail reportedly showed a result of 0.194 BrAC.
Lockridge was arrested, transported to the Jennings County Jail, and charged with:
- Legend Drug Act Violation (Level 6 Felony)
- Operating While Intoxicated – Endangerment (A-Misdemeanor)
- Operating While Intoxicated (C-Misdemeanor)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (A-Misdemeanor)
