SEYMOUR, Ind. — The Seymour Common Council has approved a 10-year tax abatement for O&K America Corporation to support a major capital investment at its facility at 1625 A.W. Batey Drive in the Eastside Industrial Park.
The company plans to invest nearly $9 million in its Seymour operations, including $637,000 in real property improvements and more than $8.3 million in manufacturing, IT, and logistics equipment for personal property.
The expansion will allow O&K America to retain its current 74 associates and create five new full-time positions generating an estimated $250,000 in additional annual salaries.
The local investment will enable the plant to process wire rod locally from scratch rather than importing materials from Japan. Despite the abatement, O&K America is projected to pay over $500,000 in local property taxes on the new investment over the next 10 years.
Work on the project is scheduled to begin in mid-October, with full completion expected by the end of 2027.
